VCD Open Lecture: The Overlooked Style of Virtual Worlds
October 22, 2026 | 18:00
Vilnius College of Design, Cafeteria
Fashion has always been a way to express identity, creativity, and belonging. But what happens when fashion moves beyond the physical world and into virtual environments?
From the earliest text-based games to the imaginative worlds of World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Roblox, fashion has played a fascinating, yet often overlooked, role in shaping how we experience digital spaces.
In this Open Lecture, fashion and gaming researcher Fija Dahlia explores the evolution of in-game fashion, examining how clothing, avatars, and virtual identities have become powerful forms of self-expression and creative experimentation.
The lecture will consider what makes fashion in virtual worlds distinct from its physical counterpart, how gaming environments challenge traditional ideas of style and identity, and what designers can learn from these emerging forms of digital culture.
It will also open a broader conversation about the relationship between physical and digital fashion, creativity, and the potential for more sustainable approaches to design.
Can virtual worlds change the way we think about fashion in the real world?
Join us for an exploration of fashion beyond physical boundaries.
