Admission Requirements for Applicants from Nigeria
Vilnius College of Design welcomes applications from Nigeria. Please read the requirements below carefully before applying. Applications that do not meet all of the minimum requirements will not be considered.
- 1Our Study Programmes
Vilnius College of Design offers 8 technology programmes and 5 design programmes only. See all study programmes
We do not offer business programmes. If you are looking to study business, management, marketing or a similar field, our college is not the right fit for you.
- 2Technology Programmes
Option 1: Nigerian Senior School Certificate (WAEC WASSCE or NECO SSCE) + at least one year of further studies
In line with the recommendations of the Lithuanian Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC), Vilnius College of Design does not accept the Nigerian Senior School Certificate alone for admission to higher education studies.
To apply for any of our technology programmes, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Completed Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC WASSCE or NECO SSCE). NABTEB certificates are assessed individually, subject to SKVC recommendation.
- At least five subjects with grade B3 or better, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Mathematics or Computer Studies with at least one of the following:
- Mathematics: grade A1; or
- Computer Studies (or Data Processing / ICT): grade B3 or better.
- Results from no more than two examination sittings may be combined.
- In addition, at least one year of completed post-secondary or higher education studies (for example, the first year of a university or polytechnic programme, a National Diploma (ND), or JUPEB / IJMB). Preparatory or foundation courses at Lithuanian institutions do not count towards this requirement.
Applicants who do not meet the Mathematics / Computer Studies requirement above are not eligible for technology programmes, regardless of their other grades.
Option 2: Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel (International) A Levels
- At least three full A Levels (AS Levels alone are not sufficient).
- Minimum grade B in each of your three A Levels.
- Mathematics or Computer Science among your A Levels, with at least one of the following:
- Mathematics: grade A or higher; or
- Computer Science: grade B or higher.
Applicants without A Level Mathematics or Computer Science are not eligible for technology programmes, regardless of their other grades.
- 3Design Programmes
Admission to design programmes requires a portfolio. Each application is evaluated individually, based on the portfolio and the criteria described under “Admission requirements” for each of your chosen programmes, for example Graphic Design

All applicants must prove English proficiency at a minimum B2 level (CEFR) with one of the following:

Together with your application, you must provide the information needed for us to verify your results online with the examination body: for WAEC and NECO, a valid result checker PIN and serial number (or a WAEC digital certificate / verification link). Applications whose results cannot be verified online will not be evaluated.
- 6Legalisation of Educational Documents
- Nigerian certificates (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB): Nigeria is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so your educational documents must be legalised instead. Your certificates and results must be authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Education and then by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria.
- Cambridge International / Pearson Edexcel certificates: these are issued in the United Kingdom and must be apostilled by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Documents that have not been legalised or apostilled as described above will not be accepted.
- 7Gap Since Previous Studies
- Secondary education (WASSCE / SSCE / NABTEB or A Levels): no more than 7 years may have passed since you completed your secondary education.
- Higher or post-secondary education: if you have studied after secondary school, no more than 5 years may have passed since you completed or left those studies.
- Applicants must be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
Applicants with a longer gap are not eligible to apply.
- 8Residence Permit: Police Clearance Certificate
Applicants who require a Lithuanian temporary residence permit must also be prepared to submit a criminal record / police clearance certificate from every country in which they have lived for more than 6 months during the previous 2 years. The certificate must normally be issued no earlier than 6 months before the residence permit application and, where required, must be legalised or apostilled.
This certificate is not part of the academic admission assessment. It is required by the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania for the residence permit application.
- 9Passport Validity
At the time of application, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your studies plus at least 6 months after graduation.
For example, if you start your studies in September 2027 and graduate in September 2030, your passport must be valid until at least March 2031.
Applicants whose passport does not meet this validity requirement will not be considered.
