Gailė Pranckūnaitė is a long-standing lecturer at Vilnius College of Design, a typographer, graphic designer and artist whose practice brings together publication design, experimental typography, type design and contemporary art. Her work is shaped by a sensitive relationship with text, letterforms, materiality and context – from books and exhibition publications to visual identities that function as cultural narratives in their own right.
Gailė has designed books, publications and visual systems for authors and cultural projects in Lithuania and abroad, collaborating with artists, writers, museums, film and art institutions. Her recent international work includes the visual identity for the Lithuanian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
In the Graphic Design programme, Gailė invites students to approach design as a way of thinking. The focus is not only on arranging visual material beautifully, but on understanding how form communicates, how typography speaks, and how an idea becomes a publication, poster, identity or complete visual system. Under her leadership, students develop into independent, critical and culturally aware designers.
