Admission Requirements for Applicants from Kenya
Vilnius College of Design welcomes applications from Kenya. Please read the requirements below carefully before applying. Applications that do not meet all of the minimum requirements will not be considered.
- Our Study Programmes
Vilnius College of Design offers 8 technology programmes and 5 design programmes only. See all study programmes
We do not offer business programmes.
If you are looking to study business, management, marketing or a similar field, our college is not the right fit for you. - Technology Programmes
To apply for any of our technology programmes, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Completed Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
- Minimum mean grade of C+ (plus).
- Mathematics or Computer Studies, with at least one of the following:
- Mathematics (121 – Alternative A): grade B− (minus) or higher; or
- Computer Studies (451): grade B (plain) or higher, together with Mathematics (121) grade C+ or higher.
Mathematics Alternative B (122) is not accepted for this requirement.
Applicants who do not meet the Mathematics / Computer Studies requirement above are not eligible for technology programmes, regardless of their other grades.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is not covered by the SKVC general recommendations for the recognition of foreign qualifications. Each application is therefore assessed individually and, where necessary, Vilnius College of Design requests an individual recommendation from SKVC; the final decision follows that recommendation.
IT aptitude test and motivational interview.
All applicants to our technology programmes also take the Vilnius College of Design IT aptitude test and a motivational interview. The test is taken online and consists of multiple-choice questions. It does not assess knowledge of IT or programming, and no prior IT studies are required: it assesses logical thinking, problem-solving, pattern recognition and attention to detail. Questions include number and pattern sequences, simple logic and word problems, basic calculations (for example, fractions and percentages), directions, coordinates and clock angles, and visual and spatial reasoning (for example, shapes and cube nets). The questions are based on general logic and school-level mathematics, so no special preparation is required. - Design Programmes
Admission to design programmes requires a portfolio.
Each application is evaluated individually, based on the portfolio and the criteria described under “Admission requirements” under each of your chosen programs,
for example Graphic Design - English Language Requirements

Your KCSE certificate must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya and then legalised by the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Lithuania accredited to Kenya or by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania in Vilnius. Documents that have not been legalised will not be accepted.
Kenyan educational documents are issued in English, so no translation is required.
- Gap Since Previous Studies
- Secondary education (KCSE): no more than 7 years may have passed since you completed your secondary education.
- Higher or post-secondary education: if you have studied after secondary school, no more than 5 years may have passed since you completed or left those studies.
- Applicants must be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
Applicants with a longer gap are not eligible to apply.
- Residence Permit: Police Clearance Certificate
Applicants who require a Lithuanian temporary residence permit must also be prepared to submit a criminal record / police clearance certificate from every country in which they have lived for more than 6 months during the previous 2 years. The certificate must normally be issued no earlier than 6 months before the residence permit application and, where required, must be legalised or apostilled.
This certificate is not part of the academic admission assessment. It is required by the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania for the residence permit application.
- Passport Validity
At the time of application, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your studies plus at least 6 months after graduation.
For example, if you start your studies in September 2027 and graduate in September 2030, your passport must be valid until at least March 2031.
Applicants whose passport does not meet this validity requirement will not be considered.
