International student support

Citizens of the EU and the EEA need no visa, however long they stay.

Non-EU citizens must apply for both a national visa (D) and a temporary residence permit, and for both before travelling to Lithuania. Applications go through MIGRIS, the Migration Department system, through visa centres or through Lithuanian embassies.

Deadlines and the list of required documents change, so always check migracija.lrv.lt and the national portal studyin.lt for the current rules. The procedure takes time — start as soon as you are nominated, not a few weeks before the semester.

Contact the VCD International Office as soon as you are nominated: erasmus@vcd.lt. They will tell you which documents the college needs to provide for your case, and answer questions about the visa and the residence permit.

VCD has no dormitories and does not provide accommodation — students arrange housing themselves. Partner discounts you can use are below.

EU and EEA citizens should bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), issued free of charge by your national health insurance institution.

For non-EU citizens health insurance is one of the conditions of the temporary residence permit. Check the exact requirements and the minimum cover on the Migration Department website.

VCD sits in Naujamiestis, a central district of Vilnius that is easy to reach by public transport.

An ISIC student card gives discounts on public transport, museums, cinema and some shops. Ask the International Office about getting one.
