Grading and complaints

At Vilnius College of Design every incoming Erasmus+ student is assessed by transparent academic standards, and clear procedures make sure everyone has equal rights and any issue is resolved effectively.

Grading system

Vilnius College of Design uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Student achievement is assessed on the Lithuanian national 10-point scale, which maps directly onto the ECTS letter grades:

Appeals and complaints

If a student disagrees with their results or wants to complain about how the mobility is organised, two separate procedures apply:

A. Appeals against assessment results

If you disagree with the grade for an exam or an interim assessment:

  • Consultation: first talk to the lecturer of the subject and the head of the department.
  • Filing an appeal: if this does not settle it, you can submit a reasoned appeal in free form to the VCD Studies Department within 2 (two) working days of the results being published.
  • Review: the appeal is heard by the Appeals Committee (Academic Council), convened within 3 working days. The decision is given to the applicant within 2 working days of the meeting and is final.

B. Complaints about the organisation of Erasmus+ mobility

Complaints not related to assessment (about selection, support for people with fewer opportunities, the quality of administrative services, possible misconduct or discrimination):

  • How to submit: in writing (by email) to the International Relations and Project Management Department (TRPVS) at erasmus@vcd.lt within 10 working days of learning about the matter. Include your contact details, the circumstances and what you are asking for.
  • Seeking a solution: an informal solution is tried first (TRPVS contacts the parties within 5 working days). If that fails, the complaint is handled by the institutional coordinator or the deputy director.
  • Response time: a written decision within 20 working days of receiving the complaint (in complex cases this can be extended by up to 10 working days).
  • External bodies: once the VCD internal procedures are exhausted, the student may turn to the Education Exchanges Support Foundation (ŠMPF), the Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson, the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures, or a court.

All complaints and appeals are handled confidentially and in line with the GDPR, and no one who complains may suffer any negative consequences.
